Sex Worker Arraigned For Selling Daughter For N60,000

Sex Worker Arraigned: A commercial sex worker, simply identified as Grace Onome, who allegedly sold her 2-year-old child for N60, 000, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on a two-count charge.

Onome, who before her arrest, plied her trade along the Mobil area of Badagry, is being accused of trading her daughter, Zainab, for money on September 30, to another sex worker, simply identified as Endurance, for the said amount.

The prosecutor, Insp. Daniel Ighodalo, told the court that the 37-year-old committed an offence which contravened Sections 142 and 274(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

In her judgement, the Chief Magistrate, Miss Abimbola Awogboro, granted bail to the sex worker in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

The Chief Magistrate then adjourned the case till November 21, for further hearing.
