The deal also includes an option for AS Roma to permanently buy 29-year old Fazio for a fee of 3.2 million euros ($3.6M), if certain milestones are reached.
“I am very happy to join a great team like Roma,” Fazio said. “I really want to start training and get to know my new teammates and coach.” Fazio will be wearing the number 20 jersey at Roma.
Fazio has had a hard time at Tottenham, making only 32 appearances for the club since he joined in 2014. He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Sevilla, where he left for the Spurs two years earlier.
