Tom Carroll Signs: Tottenham have announced a new contract for midfielder Tom Carroll until 2019. The 24-year-old has progressed through the club’s academy set up and into the first team, notching up 54 appearances and scoring three goals after making his senior debut against Hearts in August 2011.

During his time in north London, Carroll has spent time out on loan at Leyton Orient, Derby County, Queens Park Rangers and, most recently, Swansea City during the 2014-15 season

‘Time flies!’ he told Tottenham’s official website. ‘It’s gone really quickly. I’ve seen a lot of players come and go and I’m delighted to sign an extension and see what this season brings.

‘We’ve had a lot of home-grown talent come through the system in the last few years and now there are younger lads coming up again and it’s great to see their faces with the senior squad.’

Last season was arguably Carroll’s best yet in a Spurs shirt, with 30 appearances, 12 starts and his three goals to his name in three different competitions.

‘I’m happy to be rewarded with this new deal and I’ve got to do it all over again now and impress the manager. I know if I get a chance I have to take it.’

‘We’ve a top squad here full of international players, so it’s hard but you have to keep your head down, keep working hard every day and see where it takes you.’

Carroll becomes the fourth player to commit their future to Spurs this month, alongside Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier and highly rated midfielder Harry Winks.
