Pregnant JSS2 Student Commits Suicide: A Junior Secondary School (JSS) II student of Gyegeh Memorial College Logo 1, Makurdi, Benue state, Jessica Beer, has taken her own life.

According to sources who witnessed the incident, the female student drank a poisonous substance and was thereafter rushed to a clinic in Akpehe, where she was confirmed dead by doctors upon arrival.

Rattled by the incident, a close friend of the deceased, who pleaded anonymous, disclosed that Beer committed suicide because her boyfriend, simply identified as Labi – a pork meat seller at Wurukum Market in Makurdi – impregnated and abandoned her.

This is even as he was also said to have impregnated another girl.

It was gathered that the news left residents of Akpehe in apparent astonishment as they flocked to the clinic to catch a glimpse of the remains of the girl.

Efforts made to reach the Benue State PPRO, Moses Yamu, for confirmation proved abortive as his phone was switched off at the time of this report.
