Meek Mill risks spending nearly 2 years in jail for violating his probation.Meek Mill facing serious jail time

The rapper is going to court on Monday for a couple of serious probation violations in his drug and weapons case. Recall that he was arrested in March for fighting at a St. Louis airport.

Then in August he was arrested again for recklessly driving his motorcycle in Harlem, New York City.

Meek’s airport case and reckless driving case were both thrown out on October 2, with Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, telling TMZ that the charges would be dropped if the star performed the number of community service hours agreed in the deal.

Meek completed his community service at the Veteran’s Association in Philadelphia. While the charges were dropped, they did breach the terms of his ongoing drug and weapons case. In 2015, he violated his probation by leaving Pennsylvania for a show without getting approval from the court and because of this, he was put on house arrest. The judge in the case made it clear  that one false move and he’ll drop the hammer on Meek.

Meek’s recent arrests are for crimes far more severe than contravening a travel ban, so this means he is likely to endure a more severe punishment than house arrest. It is believed that he could spend around 20 months in prison.

The 30-year-old’s initial arrest occurred in 2008 when he was convicted of drug dealing and gun possession and spent eight months in prison. He has since faced numerous legal troubles for violating probation in the years since his arrest and has been in-and-out of jail for short month-long periods due to the violations.
