Man Sentenced 100 Years In Jail For Defiling 3 Girls Inside Church

Man Sentenced 100 Years: A 20-year-old Kenyan man was on Wednesday sentenced to 100 years in jail for trailing and sexually abusing three girls in a church in the village of Kangaru in central Kenya.

The accused, Harrison Kinyua, who was handed the sentence by a court in the central town of Embu after pleading guilty, was said to have secretly followed ‘two 13-year-olds and a 10-year-old in a church on December 9, 2015’ and then locked them inside to sexually abuse them as they returned chairs borrowed for a funeral, the AFP news agency reports.

In an attempt to buy their silence after the sexual molestation, the young man bought them chips, however, it was small as they still told their parents about the incident.

Kangaru sub chief Irene Komu explained that when she was notified of the incident the following day she took the children to record statements at the Embu police station and later to the Embu Level 5 Hospital for medical examinations.

A doctor, Christine Nyagilo, also confirmed that the girls were defiled.

In his ruling, Magistrate Maxwell Gicheru, who heard the case in Embu town, said the evidence proved without any doubt that Kinyua had committed the crime, Kenya’s Capital News reports.

“The sentence should act as a deterrent,” he said.

It is not clear if the man received sentences for each assault individually – and that these added up to 100 years.

But reporters believe the judge intends the man to serve 100 years.
