Japanese Man Stabs Son, A Japanese father has stabbed his 12 year old son to death after complaining the boy was failing to study for a school entrance exam.

The boy’s father, 48-year old Kengo Satake told the police that he “argued with his son for not studying” before he was to write a test to enter a private junior high school.

His son, Ryota, was rushed to the hospital on Sunday after the stabbing but he died from loss of blood. “The father stabbed his son in the chest with a kitchen knife,” a police spokesman said though he declined to provide more details.

The boy’s father was arrested after police got a call from the hospital, he said. Kengo Satake told police that he stabbed his son “by mistake”. The boy was trying to enter one of the leading schools in the Aichi prefecture, in the city of Nagoya and his father had regularly scolded him over his studies according to people with close knowledge of the family.

The boy’s mother was at work when the incident occured, according to highly respected Japanese news outlet, Asahi Shimbun.
