Commotion in the House of Reps Over Budget Padding Allegations

Budget Padding Allegations: The session in the House of Representatives ended in a rowdy note over allegations of budget padding leveled against Dogara.

It was chaos in the House of Representatives on Wednesday as members ended the session in a rowdy mood.
The drama started after Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, recognised Emmanuel Oker-Jev, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, who moved a motion on breach of his privilege and that of the House by the embattled former Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin.
However, he was met with stiff opposition as he mentioned Jibrin’s name in his speech with members of the Transparency Group shouting “No, no, no.”
The House became rowdy as other members began shouting “Dogara, Dogara” as things went out of hand.
The motion was however passed and referred to the ethics and privileges committee, which would look into the matter.
It would be recalled that ahead of the resumption, Jibrin had written the 360 house members insisting that Speaker Dogara is corrupt and unfit to head the assembly.
