This is contained in a statement issued by the acting Director, Information for the NJC, Mr. Soji Oye, on Friday, November 4, 2016.

The two Justices were formerly of the Court of Appeal.

The appointment will bring the number of the justices of the apex court to 15 by the time the CJN retires on Thursday.

The statement read in part, “The two honourable justices will be sworn-in by the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Hon. Justice Mahmud Mohammed, GCON, on Monday 7th November, 2016 at 2.00 pm in the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”

The president had on October 11 requested the Senate to consider and confirm the nominations of two judges as Justices of the Supreme Court.

The nominated judges were Sidi Bage, Nasarawa State, North Central; and Paul Jauro, Taraba State, North East.
