The head of NAHCON’s medical team, Ibrahim Kana, said two pilgrims including a 40-year old woman died in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Three died in Muna, while the last 13 died in Makkah with a mentally-ill woman amongst the victims.

He also added that the 2016 death toll was however the lowest in five years. He also attributed this low figure to enhanced sanitation, increased medical awareness and compressed national medical team. The medical team attended to over 21,000 patients since the commencement of the pilgrimage, Kana said.

The 2016 pilgrimage is almost complete as pilgrims have started returning home on Saturday.
