Cane Stroking – A 26-year-old man was sentenced to six strokes of the cane on Thursday by an Upper Area Court, in Gudu, Abuja for fondling a lady’s buttocks.

Wilson Inacho, a welder, who pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of mischief, was given the sentence by the judge Mr Umar Kagarko, with no option of fine.

At today’s court hearing, the police prosecutor, Mr Augustine Urom, disclosed that Miss Alice Adejo reported the matter at Apo police station on Wednesday, August 10.

According to the prosecutor, the accused had formed the habit of leaving his work to follow the complainant every time she passed by his workshop.

He said: “She even reported him to his master.”

Urom said she could no longer endure the act when he crossed the line by touching her buttocks.

The prosecutor said the act contravened section 327 of the Penal Code.

Apparently showing no remorse to the act, Inacho, while speaking, explained that he did that in a bid to get the lady’s attention – since he likes her so much.

The court, while admonishing the convict to desist from indecency, asked him to find a decent approach towards women.

“You don’t go about touching a woman’s buttock simply because you want her to like you.

“Find a decent approach,” Kagarko said.
