FUTA Admission Slots: 20,000 Applicants Jostle For 4,000 List

FUTA Admission Slots: The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) on Tuesday commenced the screening process for admission of students into various undergraduate degree programmes with over 20, 000 candidate vying for the available 4, 000 slots.

The four-day screening exercise, which started today, was conducted by a team of the university Management, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academic), Prof. Olatunde Arayela.

A statement issued as regards to the four-day screening by the Head, Information and Protocol Unit, Mr. Adegbenro Adebanjo, revealed that there were no written examination but officials of the university checked the certificates of the candidates for eligibility.

The statement reads, “The Federal University of Technology, Akure began the 2016/2017 admission process into its various undergraduate degree programmes with the screening of candidates.

“The four day Post-UTME screening exercise began on Tuesday, 9th August, 2016 with over 20,000 candidates jostling for 4,000 admission slots.

“The exercise which started as early as 7 a.m. saw candidates trooping in. Officials of the university, including the Security Unit, were on hand to check the documents of the candidates for eligibility.”

“In accordance with the policy of the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, FUTA is conducting the exercise by checking the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Ordinary Level results of candidates who chose the institution with a score of 180 and above).

“We have the representatives of the National Universities Commission and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on ground to witness the conduct of the exercise. This is to ensure transparency and due process in the exercise.”
