Several sources close to the polity squealed that the deputy director – whose identity remains unknown – had undergone several disciplinary processes after it was discovered he lifted part of the 2008 victory speech made by President Barack Obama of the United States.

He was thereafter sacked.

A source at the state house who spoke on the condition of anonymity said:

“At 8 o’clock on the Monday morning following the allegations, he reported at the office of the Head of Service, and he was immediately asked to vacate his position and office at the State House pending further measures which will be guided by civil service rules and regulations.”

It was also learnt that several measures have been taken to avoid a repeat of such an embarrassing occurrence which sources said go totally against everything that the president represents and stands for.

As a result of this, a new digital mechanism has been put in place in the State House to aid the process of drafting speeches – with the provision of tools that detect plagiarism, similar to those used by editors and academics around the world.
